Programme profile
This programme is run jointly by the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT) and Trinity College (TCD). Students on this programme are registered in DIT and TCD. The programme is designed to provide an integrated training in the science of nutrition and dietetics and its applications to human health and wellbeing both at the individual and community level.
Nutrition is a branch of science devoted to the study of nutrients. It spans a broad-ranging area, overlapping with many other disciplines including biochemistry, physiology, cell biology, dietetics, medicine, communications and public health.
Dietetics is one of the health and social care professions. Dietitians apply knowledge of food, nutrition and other related disciplines such as biochemistry, physiology and social science to promote health, prevent disease and aid in the management of illness
Entry Requirements
Students must present six subjects of which three must be at grade C or above at Advanced GCE A-Level. The other subjects must be at least at grade C or above on GCSE or Advanced Subsidiary GCE (AS) papers. The six subjects must include: English, Mathematics and a language other than English.
